Job Description:

Overview:

We are looking for engineers with an innovative software background, a passion for engineering excellence and significant experience on which to draw.

The result is a varied job with varying degrees of responsibility, differing types of tasks ranging from initial design to machine commissioning, perhaps project management or customer visits but with practical design remaining central to the job.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop software for control systems for primarily marine handling systems.
  • PLC and field component selection as per project requirements.
  • Develop PLC software.
  • Develop HMI\SCADA interface.
  • Configure parameters for Variable Speed Drives.
  • Design distributed networks for factory wide and shipboard wide installations.
  1. Produce documentation for the design of the control systems
  • Produce function design specifications
  • Produce equipment test specifications for use in house and onboard ship.
  • Document software version history
  1. To produce practical new designs to tight timescales in a supportive team environment.
  1. Assistance with other departments notably Purchasing, Production, Mechanical Design, Project Management and Quality Assurance.
  1. Identification of any improvement to working practices in the production design department. Participation in, and contribution to, design reviews, contract reviews and other project-related activities. Liaison with other Design Engineers to ensure design specifications are met.
  1. Bid support, travel for technical input, customer liaison, input to sales proposals.
  2. As well as design, all staff work flexibly to cover all aspects of the production of relatively complex one-off machines.
  1. Test and Commission systems, both at the factory in Telford, and on board ships on a worldwide basis.
  1. Liaise with Service Engineers and assistance with customer queries and problems

Software

  • Major PLC packages
  • Major HMI\SCADA packages
  • Ms Office

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in programming Allen Bradley. GE, Siemens etc PLCs.
  • Experience in Cimplicity, FactoryTalk View etc SCADA packages
  • Experience in configuring variable speed drives
  • Experience of distributed network design and implementation
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Highly Organised

Experience: Must have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience

Qualifications: HND or above.
