| A Cable Transporter is a highly versatile, mobile or fixed, self contained
cable handling machine, that uses a pair or pairs of motorised, pneumatically tyred wheels to transfer
cable or rope between the ship and the storage tanks. |
|
The unit can be positioned at any suitable location within the ship and requires
only an electrical power supply to drive the motors, hydraulic supply and associated services.
Control is achieved from an on-board control panel and pendant, and when required, the units can be easily
integrated into a larger system and controlled from a central control console. |
|
Speed and distance information can be provided from optical encoders fitted to a rotating wheel positioned on
the cable. Squeeze control is effected using the same liquid spring arrangement featured in the DOHB and LCE
units.
Typically, a two wheel pair transporter will have a maximum tension of 2 Te at up to 4 knots and a maximum speed
of 8 knots at up to 1 Te.
|
