Draw Off - Hold Back Engine
The Draw Off - Hold Back Engine or DOHB is a back tensioning engine. It is usually installed
at the aft end of the ship, forward of the drum engine. It is used in conjunction with the Cable
Drum Engine for cable repair work, it can also be used independently for cable transporter duties.
The DOHB maintains the cable under tension as it passes to or from the Drum Engine depending on
whether the cable is being laid or recovered.
The DOHB consists, basically, of a series of columns on each of which are two pivoted wheel arms.
The wheels, connected to each other by a ram, are driven by upper and lower electric motors.
